Privacy Policy

Rise is a wake-up alarm app. This page explains what information Rise collects, why, and who it's shared with. If anything here is unclear, get in touch — happy to explain in plain terms.

Account information

Creating a Rise account requires an email address and password, handled by our backend provider, Supabase. We also store the display name and profile photo you choose to add.

Alarms, checklists, and streak history

Rise stores the alarms, wake-up tasks, checklists, and wind-down settings you create, along with a history of when you woke up on time, so it can show your streak. This data is tied to your account and is never sold or shared with advertisers — Rise has no advertising or analytics tracking of any kind.

Camera & wake-up task photos

Some wake-up tasks (making your bed, scanning an item, a stretch or exercise) ask for a photo to confirm you actually did it. That photo is sent, at the moment you take it, to Anthropic's Claude AI to check whether it plausibly matches the task — for example, whether a bed looks made. Rise does not store these photos after that check; they exist only for the few seconds it takes to verify them, and are not retained by Rise's servers or shared for any other purpose.

Microphone & speech

A few wake-up tasks ask you to read a sentence aloud. That's checked using your device's own on-device speech recognition (Apple's Speech framework) — Rise does not receive, transmit, or store the audio or transcript itself.

Motion & step data

Some wake-up tasks use your device's motion sensor or step counter (for a "shake your phone" or "take some steps" task). This data is read live from the device to check task completion and is not stored or transmitted anywhere.

App locking (Screen Time)

If you turn on Rise's app-locking feature, it uses Apple's Screen Time (Family Controls) API to restrict apps you choose until your morning checklist is done. Apple's framework deliberately never reveals to Rise (or any app) which specific apps you selected — Rise only receives an opaque, private reference it can use to apply or lift the restriction. Rise never sees your app usage history.

Alarms & notifications

Rise uses Apple's AlarmKit and local notifications to ring your alarms, including while your phone is locked or the app is closed. This runs on your device through Apple's own systems and doesn't involve sending your alarm schedule anywhere outside your account's normal backup with our backend provider.

Subscriptions & payment

Rise subscriptions are billed entirely through Apple's App Store. Rise never sees or stores your payment card details — that's handled by Apple. We use RevenueCat to keep track of whether your subscription is active, which only receives your anonymous subscriber ID and purchase status, not your payment information.

Who Rise shares data with

• Supabase — hosts your account, alarms, and app data
• Anthropic — verifies wake-up task photos (see above); doesn't retain them
• Apple — App Store payments, AlarmKit, Screen Time, on-device speech recognition
• RevenueCat — subscription status tracking

Rise does not sell your data, and does not use any advertising or cross-app tracking SDKs.

Deleting your data

You can permanently delete your account and everything tied to it — alarms, checklists, streak history, photos — at any time from Settings → Delete account inside the app. This can't be undone.

Children

Rise is not directed at children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect data from them.

If this policy changes in a meaningful way, we'll update the date at the top of this page.
